J. Carmichael writes ballads about love, and a world spinning out of control. He has been defiant, perhaps to a fault, for most of his life, and it echos in his music, from the way he writes, to the instruments he plays, to what he writes about. Never content being confined within a genre, he grew up on Nashville Now and 90’s punk and indie and is influenced by the songwriting giants of  any genres; just as comfortable at a fiddle festival as he is at a punk rock show.
