The FREDERICO BROTHERS, a legendary Missoula favorite, creates a unique mix of songs, rooted in country, folk and pop music, with obvious rock influences. The band features original songs and quirky covers from acts such as the Decemberists, the Carter Family, the Rolling Stones, Greg Brown, Steve Earle, Ben Harper and Dawes. To these songs, the band brings big beautiful vocal harmonies, supported by electric and acoustic guitar, bass, drums, mandolin, and harmonica. They have released two CDs- RAILS (2005), and FIRE CREEK (2010). THE FREDERICO BROTHERS have performed in and around Missoula since 1988, have opened for Bonnie Raitt, Nanci Griffith and Robert Earl Keen, and are perennial favorites at Missoula 1st Night.
The band’s roots go back to the seventies, when Paul Kelley (bass, vocals) and Phil Hamilton (harmonica) toured from Montana to Texas and throughout the west and Midwest with regional favorites, The Lost Highway Band. Bruce Carlson (acoustic guitar, vocals) was born and raised in Glendive, MT, and lived in Austin Texas in the 70s, where he performed and wrote songs. Nanci Griffith covered his song, Montana Backroads, on her first album. Paul Kelley also played bass on that album. Bruce, Paul and Phil got together back in Missoula in 1988, and have been performing locally since. Peter Walther (electric guitar, mandolin, vocals) joined in the 90s, and Roger Moquin (drums, vocals) signed on in 2008.
